We’ve had a fantastic year in Year 1. We’ve explored lots of things in our learning from dinosaurs, to India, to airports and much more. The children have showed real determination and resilience in their learning and have rose to all challenges. Here is a photo collage of a few snapshots of our marvellous learning.

Have a lovely summer and I hope you all fly high in Year 2!

We’ve had a busy and fantastic few weeks in year 1. We visited Manchester Airport to see the planes and learned lots of things. For instance, an aeroplane is made of aluminium and we also had a fantastic time learning about the way a pilot controls the plane.

We also made moving story boxes in DT. The children really used their imaginations and created fantastic volcanic landscapes.

Finally we all really enjoyed sports day. It was fantastic to see the children shining doing a variety of sports. Thanks to those who could help us.

One last week ahead, lets try and get our attendance where it should be for our last week in year 1.

We had a lovely time visiting the library on Friday, exploring all the different types of books.  Thank you so much for the parent helpers that helped us.

On the extraordinary zone this week are Daniel S and Sophie who have used their resilience learning power this week. Our learning hero this week is Jessica for trying really hard in her artwork. We designed our beach hut seaside pictures, thinking about the patterns and textures we would use. They all look amazing!

Let’s keep working on our attendance, it’s steadily improving!

What a fabulous first week back! I was so impressed by the attitude of the children that I gave the whole class a learning hero certificate. Great work guys!

We have started our topic on seaside holidays, building up to writing a non chronological report. How have they changed over time I wonder?

In Maths we are looking at fabulous fractions where we will build our skills to help Paulo make pizzas. Yum!

We ran lots of miles last week on our sporting success week. Great job guys!

Our attendance has taken a dip, we can work together to bring it back to the top!

Many thanks to the parents who joined us for our gorgeous crafts on Wednesday. The biscuits look awesome!

We looked at how music changed through different decades, through listening and ordering them on a timeline.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. If you could practise your 2s and 5 times tables with the children, it will help them greatly!

Our learning hero this week is Olivia for resilience in her learning. Great job!

One more week of lovely learning before Easter Eggs galore!
